Early career



The media, as they tend to do to a lot pledging young Argentine players whoever emerge in Italy, have been quick to dub Lavezzi the "New Maradona". Lavezzi himself, however, dramas this down, instead comparing himself to another young Argentine actor, Carlos Tévez. Despite this, his style very much chases the morals of Argentine Football Creole Style prepared legendary via Maradona himself. Genoa



Known as el Pocho or the Chubby One, he was purchased via Italian side Genoa in 2004 for €1 million, but was lent out straight-away to Argentina side San Lorenzo. Here at the age of 19, he competed in the Apertura 2004 tournament scoring six targets in total across the course of the season; which saw him ending as 4th lid scorer.Lavezzi's majority notable contributions included a dramatic exertion against River Plate at the El Monumental. He scored in the 69th tiny to give San Lorenzo a legendary victory and seriously harm River's name challenge. This accrued him the nickname la Bestia ("the Beast") from the Argentine media.

Although it was planned for Lavezzi to return rear to Genoa afterwards a season on lend, there were problems: whereas Lavezzi was playing in Argentina, Genoa were interested in an alleged match-fixing scandal which saw them relegated down to Serie C1, the third horizontal of Italian football.
